McAlary Opposes Additional Cuts To Fire Service

With all this talk about having to cut the fire department's budget next year, Common Councillor at Large Shirley McAlary tells CHSJ News she can't go along with that.

She's baffled people at the north end ward meeting indicated they could live with a decrease in fire service to save the city money.

She is surprised to hear this from anyone in the old north end where we have had numerous fires and the residents are concerned about it.

She also points to the fire on Charlotte Street beside Trinity Anglican Church that was deliberately set back in April and spread from one building to another.
