As ice-fishing enthusiasts get ready to retire their ice shacks until next year, the President of the Renforth Fishing Association giving this season a thumbs up.
Gary Gower tells CHSJ News ice conditions were the best they've been in years, however the multiple rainstorms that rolled in this winter did cause the Kennebecasis River to rise, which resulting in fishing enthusiasts losing shoreline use for about two weeks this season. He says the number of smelt has been down but their numbers tend to pick up around this time of the year.
The shacks have to come off of the ice by March 15.
