Most Energy-Conscious Canadians Are Motivated By Savings

A new study revealing the majority of us are more interested in saving ourselves some cash than saving the environment.

The report shows that while 63-percent of Canadians support renewable and alternative energy just as much today as they did five years ago, 54-percent want to keep their household energy usage low to benefit their bank accounts and not out of a desire to be green.

57-percent of us have bought energy-saving light bulbs like compact fluorescent bulbs to cut down on energy use and save cash but 65-percent think the newer LED bulbs are still too pricey.

Saint-Wilfred Man Killed In Snowmobile Crash

A deadly collision in northern New Brunswick between a snowmobile and a moose.

The 27-year-old driver from Saint-Wilfred was killed.

The incident happening in Lagaceville on a trail near Route 455.

UPDATED: Woman's Body Found In Canaan River

The body of a woman from Wickham being found partially submerged in water in the Coles Island area.

Constable Tom White of the RCMP tells CHSJ News the body of the 57-year-old was discovered in the Caanan River by some locals around 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon and he says they are investigating it as a sudden death. 


An autopsy is being performed this afternoon.

The woman has been identified but her name is not yet being released. White says by tomorrow there should be an update.

Police Seeking Masked Man In Armed Robbery

A masked man attempting to rob the Royal Canadian Legion in Hartland with a knife.

It happened on Friday around 4:30pm. The man demanded cash from the bartender but left empty-handed and was seen getting into a vehicle driven by a woman. No one was hurt.


The RCMP say the 41-year-old woman was arrested later that same evening.

House Fire In Quispamsis

Fire crews battling a house fire in the Kennebecasis Valley. 

The K-V Fire Department tells CHSJ News they were called to Allan-A-Dale Lane in Quispamsis around 7am this morning and flames could be seen coming through the roof. 

The blaze was knocked down quickly but the house has significant fire damage and the cause is not yet known. Everyone made it out of the house safely.

South End Assault & Haymarket Square Crash

An 18-year-old man suffering minor injuries after he was reportedly assaulted by three or four others at Queen and Wentworth. 

Meantime, one person being taken to hospital with undetermined injuries after a two-vehicle crash on City Road near the Haymarket Square area.
