There was alot of pageantry and emotion last night at the Rothesay Fire Hall as Bill Ireland took over as the new K-V Fire Chief from Larry Greer, who's retiring. Ireland tells CHSJ News its time for the department to be bigger, not smaller and take its rightful place in the province.
Greer is leaving after a quarter of a century as Chief and became quite emotional as he finished off his farewell address.
Greer first joined the fire department in the valley as a volunteer when he was just 15 years of age and served as Chief for 25 years. Early in his career, Ireland worked for the Toronto Fire Department.
