Jake Reid of the Canadian Diabetes Association in the province tells CHSJ News this would be risky for people who suffer from diabetes if they come down with complications and could even be life threatening.
The Liberal Healthcare critic Bill Fraser of Bay du Vin predicts if the government goes ahead with this, the estimated cost savings won't be as high as 600 thousand dollars because if people get sick from coming down with the flu then the cost to the heathcare system will rise.
He calls the proposal shortsighted pointing out the old axiom that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
