The fire that raged for nearly 9 hours at 55 and 57 Victoria Street has displaced 7 residents.
The building, 57 Victoria, where the fire was first reported shortly after 2 p.m. had been vacant for some time. Flames spread to the building next door, forcing out four adults from one apartment and a mother with two children from another unit. There were no injuries although a resident was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
No word yet on the cause of the blaze. The Red Cross has stepped into assist with clothing, food, and emergency accommodations.
