Saint Johnner Honoured By Human Rights Commission

Flabbergasted........That's the reaction of Ralph Thomas, the President of Prude, who has been awarded the 2012 New Brunswick Human Rights Award.

He tells CHSJ News things have changed alot for black folks in Saint John over the years. Thomas says he can remember back in the 1950's when blacks were told they had to use the back entrances of hotels and be denied service in restaurants but today the discrimination against minorities is more subtle and more work has to be done.

Thomas earlier was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee Medal.

He is also a founding member of the New Brunswick Black History Society and has a mesaage for all young people whether they be black or white........Get an education.
