West Siders Warned To Leave Patrolling To Police

A community group on the West Side is planning to protect their neighbourhood playground, which they say has become a magnet for rowdy teens and obnoxious behaviour. But Sergeant David Hartley Brown tells CHSJ News the so called Red Shirts need to be careful not to put themselves at risk as they patrol the play area.

Hartley Brown says they need to be aware of what kind of scenarios they could be facing and while he appreciates the concerns about crime and drugs near the playground, it's important to get police involved instead of taking matters into your own hands.

On Saturday, the Red Shirts held a playground party to kick off the initiative and send a message to the criminal element that they'd better stay out.
