Federal Government Urged To Retain Incentives To Make Buildings More Energy Efficient

The federal government is expected to cut spending when its budget is unveiled March 22nd but David Plante who represents manufacturers and exporters in the province tells CHSJ News incentives to make buildings more energy efficient should be left untouched and , if anything, enhanced.

Plante says energy can gobble up from 10 to 30 per cent of their operating budgets so investment tax credits for retrofitting buildings would be most welcome. He points out manufacturers reduced their energy consumption by 8 per cent from 1995 to 2007.
