RCMP Scaling Back Search For Boater

RCMP scaling back search efforts for a man who fell overboard when a 16-foot boat sank Monday on the St. John River near Fredericton.


27-year-old Roy Gallagher of the St. Mary's First Nation was one of five people in the boat.  Two women and a man from the Fredericton area were rescued from the river 34-year-old Carter Gallagher of Kingsley was pulled from the water but later died.
Sgt. Don Stenger of Oromocto RCMP tells CHSJ News searches of the river and nearby shoreline have found no sign of Roy Gallagher.


He adds it's been difficult for Gallager's family and friends but, there is no evidence to suggest he survived. Regular patrols will still be conducted in the area.
