Police Hosting Skateboard & BMX Competition

Skateboards and BMXers will be showcasing what they can do on a set of wheels in an upcoming competition in the valley.

The second annual Rothesay Regional Police's Skateboard & BMX competition is taking place later this summer.

Constable Krystal Daley tells CHSJ News when the skateboard park was built last year, there were concerns from parents and skateboarders about older youth. She says they said they felt like some of the younger skateboarders were intimidated by them, and there were concerns surrounding illegal substances.

They created the competition as a way of addressing these issues and teach safety.

Daley says one of their summer students and a cadet from the Atlantic Police Academy named Ryan Cormier are the ones organizing and running the competition. It's happening on August 10 at the Quispamsis skateboard park. It's for anyone aged 5-18, and it's free. Registration forms are located at Shred Board Shop, the Town of Quispamsis and the RRPF.
