It's that time of year when tulips are poking out and the City fire department is hopping with grass fires.
Divisional fire chief Gerald Green tells CHSJ News multiple grass fires at one time stretch resources thin should a structure fire come in.
He says it's taking fire crews away from unplanned emergencies adding sometimes they are inundated with dozens sometimes hundreds of calls this time of year.
Green says while the number of grass fires has gone down in recent years they do need to get the message out that they are illegal and just plain stupid when set on purpose.
