Provincial Education Minister Jody Carr should take a sharp look at what's being done at Saint John High in his name. So says retired Saint John High Vice-Principal Richard Thorne who tells CHSJ News the provincial Education Department should review the decision not to renew the contract of Marijke Blok as principal.
He says there have been no improprieties and she has the support of both parents and students.
Thorne adds there was a study done in 1981 which called Saint John High the flagship of schools in the city. He includes Fredericton High and St. Malachy's in that category of schools people expect to set standards in education and there's more to doing that than administrative excellence.
Blok will be returning to the school as a teacher. She has not publicly spoken about the controversy
