Canada's nuclear regulator has found no barriers to licensing the next-generation nuclear reactor Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd has been designing.
Energy Minister Jack Keir tells CHSJ news this may be something to consider by the private sector for a second reactor at Point Lepreau. Keir says the province has always been supportive of the Candu technology and this is good news for AECL.
Keir still won't say which private investors are looking into a second reactor at Point Lepreau--but--AECL hopes to build the ACR-1000 reactor in this province.
