Two representatives from the city are spending a week on the West Coast to learn how the port can build a better relationship with the community.
Port President & CEO Jim Quinn and City Councillor Greg Norton are in Nanaimo, BC for the Association of Canadian Port Authorities annual general meeting.
Norton tells CHSJ News they'll be sharing Saint John's story and seeing what sort of community-building practices have worked for ports in bigger cities like Vancouver and Toronto. Norton says there are many ports operating across Canada that Saint John can learn from.
He says we're a host city to the port so its incumbent very strong partnerships, friendships and alliances are established so at the end of the day everyone is pushing in the same direction to move Saint John further ahead.
Quinn and Norton will be sitting on a panel called Community Partnerships.
