SJ Board Of Trade Releases Survey On Sunday Shopping Hours

Open signs in storefronts don't light up on Sundays until lunchtime, and the Saint John Board of Trade wants to gauge how its members feel about that.

They've released an online survey asking members if they're happy with the status-quo or if they think businesses should set their own shopping hours on Sunday. The second question asks if they think businesses shouldn't be allowed to open before noon.

Executive Director David Duplisea says a number of their small business members have told them it's an important issue and one that can have significant impacts on the business community. If you're a member and you haven't received the survey, you're being encouraged to contact the Saint John Board of Trade by calling 634-8111.

Fredericton store-owners can set their own Sunday shopping hours, after council recently voted to change a by-law.
