Today is "Give the North End A Hug Day".
It's a community effort to support the old North end by volunteers and members of UNB Saint John Seawolves football team.
Player Jeremy McAulay tells CHSJ News several of the team's players have ties to the neighbourhood.
The BBQ starts at Noon at Victoria Square and runs until 3pm, if it's raining, the event will be held at the North End Community Centre.
