Those on social assistance who receive daily payments by mail need not worry if a strike happens at Canada Post.
The Department of Social Development says if there is an interruption in service, recipients can can visit their regional office to pick up their payment.
Those who receive monthly payments will be taken care of under alternate arrangements yet to be specified by the department.
The collective agreement covering a unit of approximately 50 000 postal workers expired on January 31, 2011. If an agreement is not reached, the workers can strike beginning May 25th.
