New Brunswick NDP leader Dominic Cardy is giving a thumbs up to a new report on legislative reform released today in Fredericton.
The report makes several recommendations, including the need for some form of proportional representation as well as finding ways to include more third-parties in legislative affairs.
Cardy tells CHSJ News one recommendation his party has is trim down the number of MLA's from 58 to 35 -- a move he believes would save taxpayer's money yet still provide a functional government.
He adds if third-party involvement were to increase, it would have to be done so that it would not cost the taxpayer anything and not diminish the roles of those who did win a seat.
