It relates to an ongoing investigation by the RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit. Mayor Mel Norton was briefed by City police on the matter late this afternoon.
He tells CHSJ News that he and Deputy Mayor Shelley Rhinehart were briefed late this afternoon by the Police Chief and Deputy Chief that Councillor Snook was being detained by the RCMP for questioning.
Snook was re-elected last May to Common Council and first elected in 2008. Fellow Councillor Bill Farren tells CHSJ News he is very shocked and unsure what its all about and says let the police do their job.
