Don't expect anyone to be hired in the near future for any of the jobs that will be needed by the multi-billion dollar naval shipbuilding contract awarded to Irving in Halifax.
Pat Darrah of the Saint John Construction Association tells CHSJ News the jobs themselves are a year away but there's alot of potential if businesses here can get ready in time. He says they'll just have to put their shoulder to the wheel.
Darrah is concerned the next year will be lean and mean with no major projects.
Darrah says there's plenty of time for those who want to be hired to get properly qualified including community college students.
