Fire, police, ambulance, and NB Southern Railway and students will stage a “car versus train” collision designed to educate students about rail crossing safety as part of activities for National Rail Safety Week.
This live theater exercise will take place at Hanover railway crossing (off Crown Street, Saint John) at 10:00am, with staging preparation beginning at 8:00am.
Operation Lifesaver is a national public safety program sponsored by Transport Canada and the Railway Association of Canada. It works with provincial safety councils, police, unions, railways, the trucking industry, and community groups to help reduce crossing collisions and trespassing incidents along Canada’s railways in communities across the country.
