After a boater drowned in South Oromocto Lake last week, the Province's Lifesaving Society is again urging everyone to wear a life jacket.
Elizabeth Lamothe tells CHSJ News that when you are dedicated to drowning prevention, each death feels like a failure. Lamothe says boats are more dangerous than motorcycles and this summer more people have died on provincial waterways than in motorcycle accidents. She points out the law requires all boats to have life jackets but does not stipulate that boaters have to wear them.
