District Six only found out at the same time as everybody else that the construction of a new elementary school in K-Park had been put on hold by the province. Superintendent Andrew Hopper tells CHSJ News major improvements at the school weren't attended to over the last few years because the understanding was there would be a new school.
The council will meet with Education Minister Jody Carr prior to a community meeting being held at the school on May 25th. Chair Roger Nesbitt also sent a letter to the Minister saying they are extremely unhappy with the decision and the lack of consultation that took place with the district on the matter.
